Trump Expected To Submit Fresh Plans For Doonbeg Coastal Works

Donald Trump has vowed to better protect the coastline at his luxurious Doonbeg golf resort, after withdrawing a plan to halt erosion there.

Trump had submitted an application to Clare County Council for works which involved altering the protected sand dunes at the former Doonbeg Golf Club.

Concern had been expressed by a number of groups, including the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, and now a spokesman for the billionaire businessman has told the Irish Independent that a "more comprehensive plan" will be submitted shortly.

It's expected this will come within a matter of weeks, and Clare County Council has told Clare FM that it understands further research is being carried out on addressing coastal erosion issues at the site.
