A tug boat is due at the scene where a stricken cargo ship is stranded 100 miles off Loop Head.
The vessel is carrying 22 crew and a 15,000 tonne cargo of caustic soda, but has been floating off the Clare coast since yesterday afternoon when it ran into difficulty with its main engines.

Dublin Coastguard is co-ordinating the operation and the tug vessel is expected to arrive at the scene around now.
