Two men have been arrested in connection with an alleged firearm incident in Shannon earlier this week.
Both men are being detained separately at Shannon and Ennis Garda stations.
At around 11 o clock on Wednesday morning an apparent single gunshot was reported in a residential area near Illaunumanagh cemetery, part of which had to be sealed off to facilitate a forensic examination.
No injuries or damage to property was reported following the incident.
During follow up searches on the same day, gardaí seized a firearm and sent it for examination.
A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested in Shannon yesterday, while a second man, in his late teens, was arrested in the Ennis area this morning.
Both have been detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act in Shannon and Ennis where they can be held for up to 24 hours.
Gardaí in Shannon continue to appeal for witnesses in relation to the incident.
