For the first time in the charity's 37-year history, the trust is reaching out and responding to the needs of the homeless outside the capital.

It follows the opening of its regional office on O'Connell Street in the city, with plans to open 30 new social housing units by the end of next year.

The trust's chief executive Pat Doyle says it's part of a 2.5 m euro investment.
