Its reported that the controversial new luxury house for the UL president built on the Clare campus of the University cost over 2 million but the tax payer didn’t foot the bill.
A report drawn up for the Education Minister on the matter has revealed that the residence overlooking the Shannon was completely financed through private funds.

According to the two page document, seen by the Irish Examiner the bulk of the money came from significant generous donations by Atlantic Philanthropies under the direction of Chuck Feeney.
To date UL says its received over 90 million in private donations for campus developments.
