The UL Hospitals Group is seeking 25 million euro for the next infrastructural development at Dooradoyle.
Management are looking for funding to allow them develop a 96-bed unit which would bolster bed capacity, seen as a key issue that must be addressed in order to ease the trolley crisis.
This week has seen a new Emergency Department come on stream – while it is three times the size of the old facility, and described as the most modern in Europe, management admit patients will still be waiting for admission on trolleys.
