UL scientists make breakthrough in early identification of Alzheimers

Scientists in Limerick have developed a device to help identify the early stages of Alzheimers disease.

Experts have expressed concern that delays in diagnosing the illness act as a barrier to improving the lives of sufferers and their families.

Now a team at the University of Limerick has come up with a ‘nanoscope’, which studies tiny organisms, that it hopes will be able to cut down that delay.

It’s been given 5.4 million euro in EU funding to help develop and market the project.
