Under 21 homecoming venue under fire

Officials at Ennis Town Council are coming under fire over the choice of venue for last night’s homecoming of the Under 21 Champions.

Dozens of people have contacted Clare Fm claiming the location was dangerous given the crowds and the small space and that the view for many was non existent, especially for children.

However the work of Ennis Gardai, Civil Defence members and other stewards are being praised, as are the clean up efforts of council staff in the aftermath of the celebrations.

Thousands thronged around O Connell Square and the surrounding streets to welcome home the under 21’s in Ennis last night.

Ennis Town Labour Councillor Paul O Shea was among those present and says he too was disappointed with the view but added that it was very short notice to organise something and believes that an alternative venue will be considered in the future.
