Union officals representing Elsevier staff in Shannon are demanding urgent talks with the company’s CEO in an effort to prevent the closure of the facility.
Unite is also calling on all of Clare’s Oireachtas represenatives to back their capaign to stop the windown which would result in the loss of 100 of the 107 jobs at the Free Zone.
The union which represents the majority of workers affected held talks with staff yesterday and plans further discussions with managment representatives in the next forthnight.
Last month the Elsever announced it’s reorganising it’s global operations, which effectively means the windown of the company’s Shannon base.
Mayor of Shannon Tony Mulcahy has offered his backing to the union in trying to rescue as many jobs as possible
