Tom Tiernan, Senior Engineer, Clare County Council said, "Many of the county's roads have been impacted by incessant rainfall which has led to the overflowing of a number of tributaries, streams and rivers. We are advising members of the public to avoid all travel other than when necessary while Met Éireann's Red Alert remains in place."

"Motorists are likely to encounter flooded roads that Council crews have not yet reached or have not been reported as flooded. Motorists are advised to not attempt to drive through flooded roads. The flooding situation on the county's road network is unlikely to improve until overnight and during Sunday. Further updates will be issued where necessary," added Mr. Tiernan.
