We’re just days into the current heatwave, but Clare County Council has announced urgent Water Conservation Measures
Members of the public and businesses are being asked to adhere to a series of urgent conservation measures introduced as a result of the prolonged dry spell of weather.
Clare County Council describes rainfall during the first half of 2010 as unusually low, warning that If this trend continues, levels of lakes and ground water are likely to become low, impacting directly on water supply sources.
The Local Authority is asking the public and business consumers to use water as sparingly as possible, to cut down on washing cars, the use of hoses, as well as dishwasher, washing machine and power shower use.
The council is also asking Clare householders to check for leaks and rectify any plumbing problems to ensure minimum waste and maximum conservation of water during the dry spell.
