Representatives of US business interests in Clare say a proposed pre clearance facility for cargo would greatly boost industry in the MidWest.
It follows new developments at Shannon airport – where pre clearance facilities for private business flights have been relaxed by US authorities – allowing a faster turn around time for corporate jets.
The Dublin Airport Authority is currently inviting companies, to tender for a cargo project at the Midwest Airport – including global air cargo firm Lynxs.
Bill Doherty is the chairman of the American Chamber’s MidWest branch – he feels cargo pre-clearance is a more lucrative option for Shannon airport.
