The health minister has played down fears that thousands of people convicted of drug offences could now have their convictions overturned.
Leo Varadkar says previous convictions should still be safe, despite the Court of Appeal's decision yesterday to strike down the law which banned drugs like ecstasy.

An emergency law to reintroduce the ban is due before the Seanad today, after being passed by the Dáil last night.
