The Transport Minister has re-iterated the government’s stance that the US Military has NOT transferred prisoners through Shannon Airport.
Anti-war protesters and human rights groups claim Shannon has been used as a refuelling stop by planes engaged in illegal rendition flights, and have urged the government to introduce procedures to assure this is not the case.

Their calls were raised in the Dail this week by Socialist TD Clare Daly, who asked why planes suspected of transporting prisoners or munitions through Shannon have not been inspected.
However, Minister Leo Varadkar says American authorities have given assurances that these suspicions are unfounded
