Shane Geoghegan was gunned down in a case of mistaken identity on his way home to his girlfriend in the Clonmore Estate at around 1 in the morning.

The 28 year old was shot in the head and body.

The court’s heard the intended target was his neighbour John McNamara.

The prosecution’s case relies on 3 key witnesses including April Collins who is a former girlfriend of John Dundon’s brother Gerard.

She says she was there when John Dundon ordered Johnny Mac’s killing and that he went into a panic when he found out the wrong man had been shot.

The defence has asked the non-jury court to consider whether Ms Collins had not done a deal with gardaí  as she herself was facing a criminal charge.

The court will hand down its verdict today.
