Victims of abuse to be honoured in Ennis

As the controversy regarding clerical child sex abuse continues, victims of institutional abuse are to be commemorated in Ennis.

Ennis Town Council is considering proposals for a sculpture in the town to honour the memory of those who suffered as children in religious institutions or in the Magdalen Laundries in Ireland in the past.

The sculpture depicting a young boy and girl may be placed near the County Museum and could cost 10 to 15,000 euro, but Labour Councillor Paul O’Shea is hopeful the project will proceed
