A video of an attempted eviction from a house in Co. Clare is trending online.

The video, which was captured by members of the Anti-Eviction Task force, was taken at a house in Corofin on Friday afternoon.

The video, which has been viewed by thousands of people on Facebook and Twitter, was taken at the site of a court-ordered repossession in Dysart, Corofin on Friday.

The footage shows a group of men, with their faces hidden, attempting to carry out the court sanctioned repossession but were forced to abandon the eviction after being confronted by members of the Anti-Eviction Task Force.

The Anti-Eviction Task Force was behind an incident at Limerick Courthouse recently, which resulted in the Repossessions Court being abandoned by county registrar Pat Wallace.

Members of the group were also present at Ennis Courthouse last Friday week, where a record 11 repossession orders were granted, though no incidents were reported.

A Garda spokesperson has told Clare FM that two members of An Garda Síochána were on site in Corofin on Friday in a caretaker capacity, to prevent a breach of peace, but that there were no altercations.

No arrests were made.
