The family of a Killaloe woman who died after cosmetic surgery in the US says its feels fully vindicated by a legal settlement with the plastic surgeon involved.
The US based lawyer in the case says Kay Creegan’s family are unlikely to appeal a not guilty verdict against two medical staff charged in connection with her death.
Initially after the hearing the family’s lawyer said the initial instinct was to challenge the outcome but that would involve long journeys for the Creegan family.
On Friday last A six person jury in New York found the anaesthesiologist and a nurse in the case had departed from best medical practice but found that their actions played no significant role in her death.
However the family had already made a 3 million dollar settlement with the surgeon at the centre of the case Michael Sachs.
42 year old Kay Creegan died on Saint Patrick’s Day 2005 just days after undergoing a procedure at Dr Sachs’s Manhattan clinic.
