Visiting Restrictions At Midwest Maternity Hospital Easing Further From Today

Visiting restrictions at the region’s main maternity hospital are being eased further from this morning.

Access slots on postnatal wards are to increase from 45 minutes to two hours for nominated partners.

The scheduled two-hour visiting slots will be offered to nominated partners of women on wards M1 and M2, from 2pm to 4pm or 6pm to 8pm daily.

The UL Hospitals Group says it’s the latest move taken to ease restrictions in line with national guidance.

UMHL is allowing partners, regardless of vaccination status, access to the labour ward through labour and delivery, to elective and emergency c-sections and to anomaly scans

Partners are also permitted to attend the antenatal, postnatal and neonatal wards in time limited slots as well as 12 week scans, while access is also permitted in high risk situations and on compassionate grounds.

The Group says the restrictions have been ‘difficult’ but ‘necessary and effective’ and has thanked patients and their families for their co-operation.

In a statement, they say they continue to plan for the further phased easing of access restrictions and to ensure all processes are safely introduced and managed.
