Clare County Council’s Head of Economic Development has opened the door to a possible voucher scheme to help the county’s businesses this summer.
In Kerry, households have been offered ‘staycation vouchers’ while Kilrush-area Fine Gael representative Gabriel Keating is proposing a similar scheme here, in which households would be given a 350 euro voucher to support local businesses.
The local authority would likely play a central role in any such scheme here, and Director of Service Liam Conneally says any scheme that can benefit the local economy would be of benefit.
He also hopes that a positive message from Clare can entice visitors and locals to enjoy themselves in the county.
