Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer is warning that a third of cars broken into are unlocked at the time.
It follows a number of reports of incidents in the Ennis, Shannon and Bunratty areas over the past week, after which thieves got away with a number of items including laptops, purses, bank cards, cash and an overnight bag.
In two of the incidents, the vehicles were left unlocked, while in a third the rear window of the car was smashed.
