Warning Over Future Of Hurley Industry

It comes as experts at Keele University in England claim that killer beetles and deadly fungus threaten to wipe out the ash species traditionally used in the manufacture of hurls.

The emerald borer beetle and the ash dieback disease are set to kill millions of ash trees across Europe in what's being described as a 'double whammy' for the species.

John Torpey from Sixmilebridge claims authorities aren't taking this issue seriously and if they don't the industry could disappear altogether.
