Water infrastructure in Ennis and Clarecastle is to receive a multi-million euro upgrade.

The government has announced 4.7 million euro in funding for upgrade works at the Clonroadmore Wastewater Treatment plant in Ennis.

Clare County Council is to spear-head the project, and says it’s looking to finish contract formalities with the successful tenderer so that works can begin as soon as possible, and that issues which have been in place for nearly twenty years can be resolved.

Shannon too is to get an upgrade of its sewerage infrastructure, with news that Clare County Council has signed a 1 million euro contract to upgrade four pump stations in the town.

The current stations are over forty years old, and it’s hoped these works will lead to a significant improvement of the sewerage scheme, and alleviate issues with an odour there.
