The Commission for Energy Regulation is considering further compensatory discounts for homes with water that's not fit for human consumption.
The regulator will announce next week discounts of either 50 percent or 100 percent off the water supply charge element of their bills – depending on whether their water is undrinkable for less than or more than three months.

But the Environment Minister told the Dáil last night that the CER is considering further compensating households with water not fit for human consumption.
A spokesman says this is NOT in the form of cash payments, but could be a reduction in the timescale or a period of free service after the problem has been fixed.
