Independent Christy Curtin has topped the poll in West Clare, and has been eelected on the first count.
The long-serving West Clare Councillor topped the poll with 1938 votes, exceeding the quota of 1896.

Fellow outgoing Councillors Richard Nagle and Bill Slattery have also performed strongly and look likely to be elected.
