A 23 year old West Clareman has appeared in court charged in connection with the alleged rape and sexual assault of a woman over a three year period.
The man – who cannot be named for legal reasons – appeared in connection with two counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault against the woman in west Clare on dates between July 1st 2009 and November 26th 2012.
Supt Seamus Nolan of Kilrush Garda Station told Kilrush District Court that Gardaí will require time to draw up a Book of Evidence before it goes to the Central Criminal Court.
The accused made no reply when charged and cautioned.
Gardaí didn't object to bail and Judge Patrick Durcan agreed on condition that there be no contact with the alleged injured party and that he surrenders his passport.
He must also sign on three days per week and is to reappear at Kilrush District Court on April 15th.
