A West Clare man, who’s teenage son took his own life, has hit out at social media sites for failing to do more to control distressing content.
Mark Winder, from Miltown Malbay, insists more should be done to monitor and remove posts which be believes could lead to copy-cat deaths.
It comes as Facebook’s announced plans to hire thousands more moderators to screen violent content – including suicides and murders – streamed on its Facebook Live service.

Mark, who lost his son William to suicide in 2012, says he’s shocked by the prevalence of material he believes could have severely negative impacts for vulnerable teens.
