Windy Conditions Batter Clare’s Coast

A status yellow wind warning is in effect, amid blustery conditions this afternoon.

Met Eireann says winds will hit 50 to 65 kilometres per hour this afternoon tonight, and that gusts could hit 110 kilometres per hour at times.

The strong winds will continue overnight, and Atlantic seas will be high.

Last night, strong winds saw Dublin Airport close for an hour, a move which led ten flights with almost 1,000 passengers divert to Shannon Airport.

Meanwhile AA roadwatch is reporting debris on the M18  between J16 Gort and J15 Crusheen. Care is advised in the area.
