Strict restrictions to the public remain in place at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick due to the winter vomiting bug.
A total ban on visiting is in place in Limerick due to an escalation of the disease with twelve confirmed cases in seven areas of the hospital and strict infection control precautions in place.
Visiting is currently permitted only in the case of critically ill patients and paediatrics.
Hospital authorities say that because of the amount of winter vomiting in Irish society, visiting is a major contributing factor in spreading the disease to hospitals and this is the reason for the visiting ban.
Children under fourteen, should not visit the hospital.
The public are requested to co-operate fully with the advice and instruction of staff.
