A woman in her fifties has been killed in a road traffic accident in West Clare.
The single car crash happened near Miltown Malbay at about 11pm last night when the car left the road and entered a field.

The woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will be carried out.
The road has been closed to allow for a forensic examination.
