Gardaí in Shannon are investigating the death of a 36 year old woman in a road accident this morning on the N18 near Hurlers Cross.
The woman was the sole occupant of the car which left the road and collided with a tree on the northbound carraigeway of the N18 between exits 6 and 7 at approximatly 5am.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to the Midwestern regional hospital

2 units of the Fire Service from Shannon, Ambulance and Gardaí attended the incident and the road was closed at the time to facilitate a forensic examination but has since re-opened to traffic.
