Ennis has been hit by an employment blow today.
The Woodstock Hotel is closing its doors with the loss of 60 jobs.
Its the second time its been shut down since the start of the recession.
Staff at the Woodstock Hotel – which is based on the Shanaway Road in Ennis – received the grim news this afternoon when they were called into a meeting with managment.
A spoksperson has confirmed to Clare FM that the premises will shut with immediate effect with the loss of 60 jobs.
This is the second time that the Woodstock Hotel has closed its doors – shutting down in October 2008 with the demise of the Dunne Hotel Group. However, a deal was put together to allow for it to re-open the following March.
There’s been no offical word as to why the premises, which is operated by Fortwilliam Catering Ltd., is being closed now – but it’s understood that financial issues formed part of the decision.
