Work-To-Rule At Ennis General

Members of the IMPACT trade union in the UL group of hospitals are refusing to co-operate with their chief operations manager in a row over his salary.

The man is paid €250,000 a year for the post – which is in excess of the public pay cap.

IMPACT has written to the Public Accounts Committee requesting an investigation into the salary.

From today, its members will refuse to take instruction from the manager, provide data to him, or co-operate with any instructions issued from his office.

The action was supported by 90 per cent of IMPACT members in a ballot at Ennis General, and also Limerick Regional, Limerick Maternity, Croom Orthopaedic and Nenagh General Hospitals.
