A public protest is taking place Miltown Malbay blocking construction work to complete a council building site.
Building subcontractors and suppliers are blocking the entrance to the 34 unit social housing scheme on the Mullagh Road in Miltown Malbay demanding payment for over a quarter of a million euro in unpaid labour and materials.
Work had resumed on Clare County Council’s "Lus na Si" development this week with a new contractor, after the previous builders, Multeen Developments Ltd went into liquidation last July.

But around 25 subcontractors and suppliers who weren’t paid for work carried out on the site are now demanding payment from the council, or the bond covering the development.
