A portion of the M18 motorway closes for extensive works later this morning.
The National Roads Authority is to conduct drainage assessment on the northbound section of the road between Barefield and Crusheen, weeks after local representatives expressed concern about safety following a spate of accidents during wintry showers on December 19th.

The road is due to be closed until Friday afternoon, and traffic is being diverted via the Old N18.
The Southbound portion of the motorway is unaffected.
