The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “Challenge to Change” and that is exactly what Nicola Ni Riada has done in her career.
Almost thirty years ago, Nicola asked her dad how he would feel if she became an air traffic control officer in the IAA .

At that time there were only a few females in air traffic control. It was a challenge for Nicola, and indeed for her male colleagues, at the time with basic issues like female toilets and maternity leave still being relatively new to them back in the early 90s.
On Monday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Nicola Ni Riada, an Air-Traffic Controller at Shannon Airport about working in a male-dominated profession.
