Clare Entrants At BT Young Scientist

Today on Morning Focus, we spoke to some of the Clare entrants in this year’s BT Young Scientist Exhibition.

Among the Banner’s projects at this year’s exhibition are – a study on the effect of headphones, laser technology to help prevent slurry pit accidents, a look at local air quality and monitoring cardiac patients.

We went live to the RDS to a number of the Clare entrants, firstly we spoke with Science Teacher, John Simms of Mary Immaculate Secondary School, Lisdoonvarna and then his student Dylan Egan told us all about his project which focuses on teachers and their use of technology in the classroom.

Following that, Abby Hehir of St. John Bosco Community College joined us on the air to tell us about her project which looks at how a Slurry pit laser can save lives and finally we spoke to Ellen Flanagan of St. Joseph’s Secondary School as she told us about the investigation she undertook to try make our oceans less acidic.
