Sixmilebridge have gotten their defence of the County Senior Hurling title off to the perfect start.
The Bridge have defeated Éire Óg in Cusack Park this afternoon, on a final score of 0-17 to 0-12.
Little separated the sides in the early stages of a closely fought first half, before three consecutive scores put Sixmilebridge into a 0-6 to 0-3 lead.
That gap remained at three into half-time, 0-8 to 0-5.
In the early stages of the second half, Alan Mulready was sent off for Sixmilebridge following an off the ball incident, and Éire Óg managed to cut the gap to a point.
But even with the man advantage, they couldn’t get on top, with Sixmilebridge pulling away thanks, in the main, to free-taker Alan Morey whose 0-12 total matched that of their opponents.
