Appeals made to Munster Council over postponement of Clare SHC fixtures

Two of the clubs involved in the fixtures for the Clare Senior Hurling Championship that were scheduled to go ahead this weekend will appeal the decision to postpone the games to the Munster Council.

Four of the five games fixed for this weekend were postponed on Tuesday evening following a decision by the Clare Senior Hurling Management to invoke a 13 day rule which would see the county players unavailable for club duty ahead of their All Ireland Qualifier clash with Wexford on Saturday July 5th.

Cratloe chairman John Ryan confirmed to Clare FM that he personally delivered his clubs appeal to the provincial body last night, while Ballyea chairman Pat Moylan said his club are in the process of forming their appeal.

Cratloe were due to take on county champions Sixmilebridge in a crucial Group 3 encounter on Sunday afternoon, with Ballyea due to take on Clooney Quin in their Group 1 clash tomorrow evening.

No timeframe has yet been announced for a decision on the appeals, with a Munster Council spokeperson confirming that the matter would be dealt with directly by the Appeals Committee of the provincial body.
