The Clare minor hurlers last evening lost to Waterford in Walsh Park by 1-21 to 16 points in the opening round of the Munster championship.
Clare trailed at half time by 1-10 to 6 points with Niall Arthur grabbing 12 of Clare’s total by the final whistle.
Clare now play Kerry next Saturday in cusack Park in the qualifer series at 6-30 while the winner will play Tipperray.
