The Irish contingent that competed at the European Cross Country Championships in Slovenia are due home this evening. Fionnuala Britton took Gold at yesterdays event.
The Kilcoole AC athlete opened up a commanding lead. The 27 year old from attacked from the start and powered home to win in a time of 25 minutes and 55 seconds.
In the men’s race Joe Sweeney produced a gutsy performance, he finished in 5th place.
In the All Ireland Novice and U11 to u19 cross country’s held in at the Curragh yesterday Eoin Looney of Kilmurray Ibrickane North Clare won Silver in the boy’s U13 and there was also silver for Imogen Cotter of Ennis track in the U19’s and bronze for Jake O Reagan of St John’s in the u19 boys.
There were also club awards for Kilmurray Ibrickane and Ennis St john’s at u13 level and Ennis track at U19.
