Clare’s best hope of representation the London Games has admitted his dreams are over.
In tweets posted on his personal account this afternoon, Shannon’s Chris Bryan has thanked everyone for their support but said he will not be taking his case for qualification any further.
His family had discussed the possibility of mounting a legal challenge to the decision by international governing body FINA to a swimmer from Guam to compete in the Games to fill a place that Bryan had been aiming for

The Ennis Swimming Club member has also criticised this decision, while insisting that ‘there is still plenty to come.’
The board of Swim Ireland are to meet tonight to discuss the case further.
