Burren’s Jonathan King to be honoured by Clare Camogie

A North Clare resident will be announced as Clare Camogie Volunteer of the Year for 2012 at the sport’s annual awards ceremony tomorrow night.

Originally from the UK, Jonathan King started the Burren Camogie Club in 2008 and since then he has played a pivotal role in allowing the club to grow, and in developing the game in North Clare.

His efforts have been singled out as a ‘shining example’ for other volunteers throughout the county.

He’ll be formally presented with an award at a ceremony at the Auburn Lodge Hotel tomorrow night.  Munster players of the year Fiona Lafferty and Tony Kelly will also present a number of other honours, including the Senior Club Star awards to Kilmaley’s Edel Griffey and the Hall of Fame honour to Truagh’s Pauline Moloney.
