The organisers and participants of this weekend’s International Hurling-Shinty Festival, which it’s hoped will bring an economic boost to the county, are to be honoured by with a Civic Welcome Ceremony this evening
The event, taking place at Aras Chontae an Chlair in Ennis, will see Mayor of Clare Councillor Pat Daly greet many of the international visitors who have travelled to Clare from Scotland for the occasion.
Tonight’s reception will be followed by the first of three Ireland-Scotland clashes in the county this weekend, with an Under-21 hurling/Shinty match in Gurteen.
The senior sides meet at Cusack Park tomorrow, after a camogie/Shinty game at Fr. McNamara Park in Doora, during which the ground will be officially opened by President Michael D Higgins.
