Clare and Galway Hurlers Predict Tough League Opening Encounter

A senior member of Davy Fitzgeralds Clare side says they're looking forward to getting back to competitive action.

The Banners 2015 League campaign gets underway on Sunday when they make the trip to Salthill to face Galway in Divison 1A of the Allianz National Hurling League.

Pre season aside, it's the first time Clare will line out since last years championship exit against Wexford.

Newmarket's Colin Ryan says they're eager to get going.

Galway captain David Collins says they're expecting a tough battle with their neighbours on Sunday.

The sides couldn't be seperated when they met in Ennis last year, a result which saw both sides qualify for the Quarter Finals.

Fergal Moore and David Collins are retained at full and centre back for Galways opener with Clare at Pearse stadium on Sunday.

Iarla Tannion and Joseph Cooney are in midfield while Joe Canning misses out through injury.

Throw in at Pearse Stadium Salthill on Sunday is at 2pm, full live commentary here on Clare FM

Meanwhile, Gavin O'Mahony will feature for Limerick in their Allianz league opener with Waterford at the Gaelic grounds.

The Kilmallock player missed his sides all Ireland club semi final win over Portaferry and his manager Ger O'Loughlin is keen for him to get some game time.

According to the Limerick Leader  Graeme Mulcahy and Paudie O’Brien won't feature along with injured duo Kevin Downes and Seanie Tobin.
