Clare football manager Michael Mc Dermott has pointed to his sides failure to take their chances as the key reason for not beating Waterford in yesterday’s Munster championship Q-final.
The Banner went down to Waterford by 4 points but were level with the Deise men entering the final 20 minutes.
Mc Dermott felt Clare lacked the killer instinct when the game was in the balance:
Wing forward Alan Clohessy echoed comments by Mc Dermott that referee Aidan Mangan had penalised Clare unduly during the match for overcarrying
The forward who grabbed one point felt that however questionable some of the decisons were Clare can’t use it as an excuse.
Waterford manager John Owens has now masterminded two victories over Clare in the space of 6 weeks.
He felt that the games’s turning point was the 4 Waterford points without replay just before half time:
Clare enter the first round of the qualifer series with games being played on the 26th of June.
That weekend is set to be a bumper one for Clare Gaa fans as the county minor hurlers take on Limerick the day before in the Munster semi final in the Gaelic Grounds.
