John Conlons goal inside the opening minute got the home side off to a dream start in Cusack Park, and with Bobby Duggan in fine form on placed balls, Clare led 1-10 to 0-9 at the break.

Limerick were reduced to 14 men before half time when Barry Nash was ordered off after picking up two yellow cards.

Three quickfire points after the restart saw the Banner surge 7 points clear in what was one of the crucial periods of the game.

From here Limerick could never claw it back, and Davy Fitzgerald's side closed the game out to take the 4 point win.

There will now be a toss for the venue of the quarter final clash with Tipperary, with that expected to be known on Monday afternoon.
