Clare disappoint in league opener

Clare went down to a disappointing 2-9 to 0-6 defeat against Limerick in Division 2 of the National Hurling League at Cusack Park today.

Limerick led 2-4 to 0-1 at half-time, with the goals coming from an early Richie McCarthy penalty and Graeme Mulcahy.

Clare did reduce the deficit in the second half with points from Fergal Lynch, Conor McGrath, Nicky O’Connell and James McInerney, but a late Limerick surge saw them run out comfortable 9-point winners.
