Clare football boss Colm Collins says it's vital that they now have their fate in their own hands in the Allianz National Football League Division Three.
A dominant 1-20 to 1-9 win over Longford leaves the Banner outright second on the league standings, with a final round clash against the already promoted Kildare to come next weekend.
If the Banner avoid defeat in Newbridge, they will be assured of promotion and a place in the Division Three Final.
Collins says it's a great position to be in after a positive league campaign.
Elsewhere in Division Three, Limerick were relegated after losing to Sligo, Westmeath kept their hopes of survival alive after beating Offaly, while Clare's next opponents Kildare assured themselves of promotion with victory over Tipperary.
