Clare gear up for Munster championship opener to Cork

Clare senior football manager Michael Mc dermott is confident his side can put a disappointing league campaign behind them when they take on Cork this Sunday in the Munster championship q-final.

Clare failed to gain promotion from Divison four while Cork succesfully defended their Division one football crown last month.

The Cavan native told Clare Fm his side are fully focused on Sunday and not what has happened so far in 2011:

Cork Captain Grham Canty has been named at centre back for Sunday’s encounter having  only recently recovered from a persistent hamstring problem that kept him on the sidelines since last year’s victory over Down.

The Bantry Blues player  is joined by Denis O’Sullivan Noel O’Leary in the half-back line.

Goalkeeper Alan Quirke has recovered from injury to start between the posts.

Aidan Walsh joins Alan O’Connor in midfield, which allows Pearse O’Neill to move to wing-forward to fill-in for Fintan Goold, who is still out with the Achilles injury he picked-up during last month’s National League final.
